With a solid performance that included going up against the #10 team in the nation, Tyler Zeller, a 7-0 senior from North Carolina, is the StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week. Kentucky's Anthony Davis is the StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week and StatSheet's NCAA 6th Man of the Week is C.J. Fair from Syracuse. Zeller put up a strong 24 points per game and 10 rebounds per game in a victory against 19th ranked Virginia and a loss to Duke.
Zeller had 23 points and 2 blocked shots in 33 minutes in an 85-84 loss to Duke. He then led the team in scoring (25) and added an additional 3 steals in a 70-52 victory over Virginia.
This is the first StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week honor for Tyler Zeller. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is our own Mike Moser. Honorable mention goes to Joe Ragland, a senior from Wichita State.
StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week: Kentucky's Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis played an average of 37 minutes starting both games for the Wildcats. He led all freshmen in blocked shots (5.5 per game). In a mammoth 78-58 win against Florida, Davis churned out 16 points and 4 blocked shots. In a 69-63 win over Vanderbilt, he had 15 points and 7 blocked shots.
Davis has won the StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week an astounding 4 times. The runner-up is Cody Zeller from Indiana. Honorable mention goes to Kevin Pangos from Gonzaga.
StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week: Syracuse's C.J. Fair
Sophomore C.J. Fair averaged 38 minutes over two games for the Orange. In a narrow 64-61 win over Georgetown, Fair led the Orange in rebounding with 9 rebounds and registered 2 blocked shots. Then in an 85-67 win over Connecticut, he led all rebounding with 12 and added 75% shooting.
This is the second time this season Fair has won the StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week award. Dion Waiters, a sophomore guard from Syracuse, is runner-up. David Kyles, a senior guard from Wichita State, wins honorable mention.
